So what I'm finding out in this safe medication practices rotation is that pharmacists are accountable and report their errors, but physicians do not. Daily I hear about mistakes physicians make because they're too proud to consult pharmacy. These mistakes have terrible outcomes for patients and the patient is never told about it. Unless they're assertive enough to ask lots of questions and educated enough to understand, they will never know that the whole thing was unnecessary. They have a huge bill and worse outcomes for no reason other than arrogance of physicians.

A patient came in with cellucitis. Physician prescribed an expensive antibiotic that did not even treat gram positive infections. Patient ended up with MRSA and then required a longer stay and even more expensive antibiotic. This physician is a corrupt one who I looked up on dollars for docs. This patient is not being told about the mistake. This is just one of many stories I hear daily.

Physicians are constantly prescribing inappropriate medications to patients that have no evidence for use the way the physician is using them and they're making the patients sicker. Younger physicians love pharmacy and consult us regularly, but the older ones don't and they cause so many problems.

I might be pregnant

I'm supposed to get my period in one day and I don't feel it coming, and my breasts are really tender. I don't normally experience this kind of breast tenderness before my period.

I don't think I've ever had this kind of breast tenderness.

I also had pretty bad motion sickness earlier and that's another sign

I think I'm going to have to do something to induce a period.

I have never had to have an abortion before and I really don't want to have to get one.

I'm supposed to get my period today, but I still have 5 days until I've reached the longest cycle I've had.
I kind of don't want a home pregnancy test, because that could make it real. Instead I'm going to try to induce it with heavy (abdominal) exercise and possibly some black cohosh.

They say the best time to try to induce it is around the time you would normally get your period which is right now.

So the longest cycle I've had, with plan B is 38 days

This database is biased. Anything that's an abortifacient is labeled unsafe because it's assumed that the goal of women is pregnancy and that abortions are undesired.
